Schedule and Tournament Format Announced

With the games less than four weeks away, it is our pleasure to announce the Keystone Cup tournament format and schedule! Crafted by TD Jack "ThePhan" McGovern, the Keystone Cup format is designed to facilitate as much interregional play as possible. With two US Quidditch regions represented, the Keystone Cup is a unique event and deserves a unique format. The Keystone Cup preliminary round will include two groups of four teams.

North Division
New York University
Rutgers University
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute
The Warriors

South Division
District of Columbia Quidditch Club
George Mason University
Villanova University
University of Virginia

During the preliminary round, each team in the North Division will play each team in the South Division once and vice versa. North teams will not play other North teams and South teams will not play other South teams during the preliminary round.

Following the preliminary round, all eight teams will be ordered in a table using standard US Quidditch tiebreaker procedures. The elimination round will feature the top six teams. The top two teams will get byes. In the quarterfinals, the third seed will play the sixth seed and the fourth seed will play the fifth seed. The winners will advance to the semifinals against the first and second seeds. The first seed will play the team with the lower seed. The winners of the semifinals will advance to the finals for the Keystone Cup championship.

Keystone Cup Back for Year Two

The Keystone Cup is back! After the smashing success of last year's tournament, the Keystone Cup will return for a second edition. Keystone Cup II will be a competitive quidditch tournament taking place Saturday, October 10th, 2015 at Haverford College on the Lower Featherbed Fields.

Drawing teams from the Mid-Atlantic and the Northeast, the Keystone Cup offers top-tier quidditch teams a unique chance to play against out-of-region opponents. Keystone Cup II will consist of 8 teams, selected based on skill, regional diversity and spectator-appeal. With acrobatic alley-oops and hard-hitting tackles, the Keystone Cup aims to bring competitive quidditch back to a broad audience in the Philadelphia area.

The inaugural Keystone Cup was a huge success and we can't wait to do it again! If you have any questions, feel free to contact us at keystonecupquidditch@gmail.com.
